just saw it again and i had this question.

that bridge they are holding is the last one that germans can cross right? then why dont they blow it to begin with and just provide cover fire from other side? why did they wait until the last men or something?

im not too bright so enlighten me . :)

I don't think the armed forces had the materials back then that they have now to build quick bridges across rivers. So, at that time, whoever had control of the last few bridges across that river, had a big advantage. The allied forces tried to hold onto it, but decided that if they were losing heavily to the Germans, then the last man would try to get across and blow it up. It was better to blow up the bridge than to let the Germans control it.;)

The Americans were on the offensive and needed that bridge. They were holding the bridge for the Americans. They wanted to prevent the Germans from blowing it.

The Germans didn't want to blow the bridge! They were trying to CAPTURE the bridge so that Rommel's armor divisions could use it to cross the river to counterattack against the Allied beachhead. The Americans also needed it to continue their advance into France so they didn't want to destroy it unless they were forced to prevent the Germans from using it. The bridge was so important because it was stone and could handle heavy armor.

Nate, if I had to choose, it would be the Gulf War. Much less chance of dying.

I'd be in a braveheart war with a AWP 1000 meters away from the action, and a few thousand rounds and a couple extra barrels for an M249 when they got too close. Sorry. Too much CS.

For me, it would have to be CounterStrike ;) Real war = BAD.
