Saving pics from the internet

Why is it that when I right click save pic, my only option is to save it as a .bmp irregardless of what the original format is. This makes it impossible for me to save animated gifs and is causing my p0rn collection to exceed my HD space. I'll have to get a bigger drive soon. 🙁

Are you sure you can't hit the drop down arrow and change it to gif?

You have the link to the pic that you want to save?

After it does save as bmp, you can reopen it for paint and save it as gif.

Thanks,

The problem is will all pics on the web. The only option in the drop down is .bmp.

If I save a gif as a .bmp, I loose the animation.

This started with Win XP SP2. i'm hoping there is an option to override it.

Yea, i could but i've had some nasty experiences in the past with 3rd party browsers and every time I look into them, they seem to have major issues that ie doesn't have.

I would go Firefox all the way. What issues does it have that would be a show stopper for you?

Yes, malware doesn't auto-install, your homepage isn't changed mysteriously, and additional pop-up software isn't needed with FF, Mozilla, or Opera, but those are good things!

BTW, if you want a real browser for pr0n, use Pornzilla

Hmmm I use IE 6 and I have none of those problems. It's called smart browsing. Don't click yes to every single box that comes up on the screen. BTW if you haven't heard SP2 adds a pop-up blocker to to IE. It's pretty slick too. So instead of just spouting "use firefox" why not try and help the original poster.

For the OP this should help you out.

Why? He'll likely be back in a couple of months with yet another IE-related issue and asking for more help, so I figured I would save him (and everyone else in these forums) some time and headaches. In fact, he most likely already spent more time and effort in a failed attempt at fixing his issue than if he just downloaded and installed a better browser in the first place.

Alas, you are correct, though. If someone wishes to continue to use insecure and buggy software, I shouldn't recommend an alternative software option as the primary solution. I should simply offer the toll-free number to the support center that could best help them, and I could offer a link to their online support as well. The better solution shall become secondary.

So, to the OP, here are your best options:

Microsoft Support Center

Phone Support
Wait Time: Will vary
Hours of Operation
2 support requests using e-mail, chat, or phone are included at no charge
(425) 635-3311
Long Distance charges may apply.

All additional support requests are $35.00 US per request or use an existing contract
(800) 936-5700
Advanced Issues $245.00 US

If all else fails:

Opera
Firefox
Mozilla

BTW, I don't use FireFox myself and I never recommended FF to the OP. I recommended Pornzilla for his pr0n surfing. I personally use (4+ years now) and recommend Opera, for both Linux and Windows.

Still haven't found the answer. 🙁

I may break down and try another browser but I'm weary because in the past I've had the misfortune to load buggy trash on my system that caused me to have to reinstall the OS (cough, cough, netscape)

Click and drag the pic. Or, use DL util to get the pic from the URL you see in the properties box. Instead of "saving" the image, you could just DL it separately from the rest of the page... works for me.

Firefox is light years ahead of the old Netscape browser you probably experienced. Don't let your past issues stop you from trying it out. It's free and a fairly small download, and easily uninstallable if you end up hating it.

Just installed Firefox and had to take it right back off. 🙁

One of my favorite forums uses security codes and "click reload" was coming up in the security code box. entering "click reload" would not allow me to log in. hitting reload did nothing but bring up the same security code. ie doesn't do this.

btw: Saving pics worked like it's supposed to under Firefox.
