saving mp3's from browser

I used to be able to left click on links to mp3 files to save them, because I checked the box in the folder options->file types->advanced menu for "confirm open after download". This works for most other file types, and forces IE to give you the dialogue box asking whether to save or open a file. However since I installed quick time alternative, IE tries to download the file and then play it with the quick time plugin. How can I disable this behavior?

Disable any settings in Quicktime to handle mp3 files. Alternatively, delete Quicktime's plugin for IE.
