Saving favorites file

How do I save my favorites file to a floppy or flash drive so I can later reinstall it on my HD. I'm getting ready to reinstall XP and I don't want to have to relocate all the sites on the net. Thanks.

All browsers allow you to Export your Bookmarks / Favorites ... just watch where
the program puts them ... on most browsers you can tell it where to save them.
Then just use Windows Explorer to find that file and Copy it to a CD or Floppy

Not hard at all

I'm using XP's internet explorer. Don't know which version but I believe it is the latest. I have looked all over for any sort of copy or export or save function and I'm unable to locate it. I remember windows 98 had it, I'm sure XP must have it.......it's just hiding, probably in plain sight.

C:\Documents and Settings\"your username"\favorites copy this folder to your usb. it's your favorite folder

If you rare using IE6 or IE7 it is: File, Import and Export ... it will prompt you after that

If you are using Firefox it is: Organize Bookmarks, File, Import or Export as desired

If you are using Opera 9 it is: File, Import and Export .. it will prompt you after that

if you are using Netscape it is: Bookmarks, Manage Bookmarks, File, Import or Export as desired

Do not use import/export to save a coyp of your bookmark favoriates. Always browse to the Favoriates folder using explorer, and save a copy of them. I found that if you using the import/export tool, it doesn't preserve bookmarks that have foreign characters. I go to Chinese websites and bookmark those, when I exported it, and imported back in another machine, all the chinese characters in the bookmarks are messed up. I never have that problem, if I copy the Favorites folder, and then put it back on another machine.

Dont forget to export/import the cookies as well, saves you the time typing in the usernames / passwords on all your sites.

I did a search for the folder that contained the files and copied them to disc. Such a PITA. Looks like I'm ready to clean my HD now. Thanks everyone for your input.
