Saving e-mails as text or doc files?

I've got Outlook2003 setup with my hotmail account. Is there a way to select a folder of emails and save them to my hard drive as text files or something that is easily accessed? Y'know, instead of some Outlook file that I can only access via Outlook.

If another program can do this, pls post it :)
