I posted this to several forums, but... judge after reading.
Just let you know what happened to me:
I bought nice Plexi Mexi about a month ago. So far, serving perfectly without any hitch. Just today morning, after switching on computer, the green LED kept flashing - nothing more, just letting the BIOS know that "the drive exist" and regularly flashing. Not a regular behaviour, a thought flew through my head - and damn, I was right! No letter in Windows, no drive detected by Nero. I was thinking about complaint, but who would like to be two-three weeks without such a burner, ha? After removing from computer and sadly looking at it, I decided I'll give it a last shot - started windows again, downloaded newest firmware (1.03) from plextor.com and flashed. I almost missed my chair, when after reboot everything was/is working OK again, about 10 CDs till now !!
I had similar experience with Yamaha 6/2/2 about two years before - after cleaning up (not necessary) and re-flashing its BIOS, it is working till now (but it was doing something different, it was burning CD's, but finished just each 7th or 8th - damn, that Yamaha was sitting on the shelf for about a half year!, it was after warrant period) and I've sold it two weeks ago.
Moral of the story? If you have burner for trashing, give it a shot. The joy after that may be worth it.
