At college we are working on a project, and we have a router config that we use all the time, and may add to over the year, and instead of always reconfiguring the router each time it get's wiped (there are other classes that use the routers as well) what is the easiest way to save the config file?
I setted up a tftp server on our FC2 server though I dont know for sure if its working or not as I dont have an actual tftp client to test, and I've never used tftp before. I type copy run tftp and then i get an error that the filename is invalid (or something to that extent). tftp generates hardly any logs on the server.
I also discovered that copy run ftp works, for using ftp instead of tftp. Since I have ftp working, this would be ideal. However, how do I tell the cisco router which user to log in as, and which username?
I did find some docs online on making the router boot off ftp, but this is not what I want to do. I want to be able to simply copy over the configuration to the tftp when I make a change, and when I log on the router for the first time after it's been reset, I want to be able to go copy ftp run then specify the file, etc.
