There was a thread few few days back where some software was mentioned that could save a windows image to a partition for quick reinstall. Can anyone post the link to that thread, or name the software? I've had no luck finding it.

Ghost is probably what you want, but the recent thread was about RIS (Remote Installation Services), IIRC. RIS is one method of corporate deployment. If you're a home user, you want Ghost or DriveImage.
