Save this mp3 player

I bought a rio600 mp3 player for my friend. There is some problem. here is her description in the email:

"The main problem of the Mp3 player is when I want to install the files to the player. The program display:

"The currently selected device is busy or not attached.Check the options settings to make sure you have selected the correct device.If this is a VSB connected device, slide the power switch to the 'off', then back to the 'no' position."

I switch the power botton but no use.I have tried different options but still no use. So I suspect the digital line is out of order."

Is the USB fully plugged in?

Did she load the driver right? Some USB stuff gets verry pissy if you dont load the driver first before pluging in.

that happened with my rio500, i just fooled around, kept trying, then it worked....

does it must work in win98? she didn't have win98. but that dell does have usb.

heh, windows win98 or newer would help.

I had the same problem. If she is using the software that came with the Rio (Rioport) forget it. I've owned 3 different Rio's and could never get that software to work. I always ran into the EXACT same problem your friend is having. I switched to Musicmatch and it worked fine the first try, not to mention it's MUCH easier to use and a lot more stable than the Rioport software.
