$220 million? F that... hopefully they'll end the NASA channel while they're at it.

No sh!t....I haven't flipped to it in a while but every time I do......nothing.
The NASA channel is downright ridiculous. They have this kid shows that look like they're from the 70's or something. Horrible editing, bad lighting and microphones that are virtually nonexistant. Wtf are they thinking?

In an era where there are hundreds, if not thousands of TV channels, and the largest health problem facing Americans is couch potatoism, brought on in part by watching too much TV, I see no reason why the government should subsidize television channels.

Because it helps the poor?

Yeah PBS has helped so ghetto kids become geniuses.

I think you've drank too much of that Democratic party Kool-Aide. I wish I could be as delusional as you. Must be pretty fun.

STFU you elitest prick.

Public broadcasting taught me english ( not typing thankfully;) ), taught me a lot about life, and is responsible for a large portion of my information repository.

<--was poor.

I was poor too and PBS didn't teach me sh!t. The only thing kids learn from PBS is the Sesame Street theme.

It was the only channel we could pick up though.....

you do know theres an age limit where the educational value of sesame street becomes nothing right? :p

Get private funding.

This is not something to joke about.

PBS is truly one of this countries saving graces.

If you continue to joke about his, I will be the first o grab the chainsaw.

I'm serious:)

have to wonder if some of these cheap selfish self centered punks are using government subsidized student loans or grants along with their subsidized education. or if they are simply rich and look down their nose at everyone else.

what everyone should understand is that the money isn't going to go back to you, or even to programs you'll benefit from. 200 million cut here is 200 million for pork somewhere else. so you might as well send letters to your representatives and senators anyway.

True, if the old people didn't save for their retirement they should be humanely euthanized. ;)

i never watched PBS, even growing up i knew seasame street and mr rodgers neighborhood were low budget shows
if they haven't gotten private funding and become a real tv station by now they don't deserve to be

you miss the point. nasa, schools, the military, libraries, student loans/grants, parks, police, and the national science research centers aren't moving towards private funding either:p somethings don't move towards private funding, its not the point. they are public services.

its not a problem for pbs to get all the toy/candy/fast food manufacturers to brainwash little children all over america during sesame street. but thats not a good thing to most of us.

I'm sure Congress can find more useful stuffs to fund than PBS. The US government is so careful of spending your tax money after all.
