Save Our Supplements

This is a good thing IMHO. Real supliment companies will be held responsible for making sure that they're safe and BS supliment companies will be driven from buisness.

This industry needs FDA regulation.

The Dietary Supplement Access and Awareness Act (H.R. 3156), introduced by Representatives Davis (D-CA), Waxman (D-CA), and Dingell (D-MI), this month, would place trusted vitamins, minerals, and herbs under unprecedented and unwarranted scrutiny.
:Q

Why are they only going after the "trusted" supplements?

I thought this was to ban the unsafe stuff.

This almost happened a few months ago. The EU is already in the process of making many vitamins and supplements prescription only. It narrowly failed here., but it could come back around.

This industry needs personal accountability and responsibility on both sides, the maker and the consumer.

Government regulation can only go so far, at some point (preferably at the beginning) people need to research the products they intent to use instead of just going to GNC and picking the product with the best looking label and start taking it!

They're safe enough for me. If you're dumb enough to take a bunch of stuff before knowing more about it or talking to your doctor, there are far worse things you can easily do that could kill you.
As this says, the DSHEA is good enough IMO.

AFAICT, the webpage itself isn't fake, it's just a cloaked industry support page. Obviously if Congress wants to regulate the supplement industry, that industry is going to be against it, and this is one such page they've put up.

So what's the money behind this legislation? Who benefits from it?
