So in 1 week I'll be moving down to tucson and starting my first big job. The thing is i havent really got a place to stay except for parents house right now. There fine with it and think it be great to have me around (i moved out 5 years ago to go to college and just come around for thanksgiving and xmas anymore).
A lot of older people are telling me it might be better just to live with parents for a while and save up for a house. Its been so long though that i've not lived with them that i dunno if i could take it for that long however. I'd like to get a place closer to where i will be working too...if anyone knows Tucson...parents live in Foothills....job is near vail....for those who dont its about a 25 mile commute 1 way :-/ luckly just hop on the freeway and only takes about 30 mins. The only prob is all the apts around there are like 550+ a month and i dunno anyone i could move in with...
I dunno...i'm going to stay with parents till end of december at least probobly...but after that i dunno...what are the thoughts on here to this matter? is it smarter to just save up and put a down payment on a house? or would u rather throw money away on an apt each month?

with an apartment you're just shelling money out for a place to live, at least with a house you'll have something to show for your money later on.

stay with your parents till you cant take it anymore or have enough for a good down payment

How much is this new job gonna pay?

Are your parents cool with it?

Can you really save?

What I would do is kick it with the folks for a while and put that rent money into a savings account. Then in a year you got some cash to throw down.

Stay with your parents at least until you have a downpayment saved up and you know you can handle paying for a house.

i would say save up for a house just because, like oreospeedwagon said, with an apartment youre just paying and paying and get nothing in the end. with a house, you eventually have it paid off and own it.

they should make apartments rent to own :-/

where did you get a job at btw?
