Audigy cards come with software to record streaming audio. Is that a possibility for you?

Use the Creative Audio Stream Recorder, it was part of the default install of the bloat Creative put on my hard drive. I haven't used it yet but I've heard others say it works.

Get a splitter for your sound-output (one male 1/8" stereo to two female 1/8" stereo), and a short extension cable (1/8" stereo male to 1/8" stereo male). These are easy to find and cheap to buy at Radio shack or other such stores.

Plug the splitter into your sound OUT on your mobo. Plug your speakers into one side of the splitter, and the extension cable to the other side. Then route the other end of the extension back into your Line-In or Mic port.

Now all you need is some basic recording software. There are tons out there, a lot of them free. Your Soundstorm software package may have even included one. Just set the recording program to record from whatever jack you routed your sound to (Line-In or Mic) and hit the record button and your all set.

Id reccomend getting it set up and do some test runs to make sure everything works ok before your friends show.

open windows sound recorder (start/programs/accessories/entertainment)

select the edit sound properties....on your recording device click on volume....on the options menu that pops up click properties....dot the recording items and check them all...press ok....on the recording control screen select the item like stereo mix...you might have to cycle through till u find the line playing

press the reocrd button on sound record while music playing...should see green blotches appearing if sound coming through...keep selecting items from recording contol till u see em.

Bad part is this will only record for 60 mins max

look for software called "HiDownload". (Google is your friend)

I've used it to capture RM video, and assume it would do audio just as well.
