Saturday night live question

I just saw this in a magazine last week. They make like $10,000/show. In contrast, the cast of Friends each get around $1,000,000/show.

I was suprised that David Letterman only gets $125,000 per show. Thought he's make more. They didn't list Jay Leno (would be an interesting comparison).

Letterman does 5 shows a week, so that's pretty damn good.

I don't know. This Jay Leno and David Letterman are not really that funny to me. David Letterman with his corny jokes like the cans of ham, and Jay Leno with his dirty old man jokes. I think there is better out there. Why do they need these two? My theory is that most people can agree on them in terms of their sense of humor, I just don't know why they feel they need the same host. Why don't they try different hosts every now and then, then maybe I would watch to see if someone good is on.

They do, just that starts after Leno & Letterman (the Late, Late night shows tend to not last as long). Thing about those shows is that it's normally not the host that makes them (although I do find Leno funny), but more the guests (which do change every night). If you ever hear of Robin Williams coming on be sure to watch it, he's hillarious....and tends to speak so much that the host never says anything so it doesn't really matter what show he's on.

Yeah, I did see Williams and I know what you mean. I also like when they have stand up comedians on even though they don't always have one whos humor i like.

It's been a top 5 rated show since it's introduction - NBC has no choice but to put out the big bucks to keep ratings up.

actually, i believe friends finished first in the nielsens last year... i stopped watching it several years ago, but apparently it's still funny.

Letterman is hilarious! He hasn't done that "canned ham" bit for over a decade. He's more like an angry talkshow host now 🙂 Leno is so-so. He used to do all clean material but has become more "sex" oriented over the last few years.

i dont know about the cast but i heard the hosts make 1500 which is the same as when the show first started

THEY ALL SUCK

'Cept Conan. Conan rules all!

In all truthfulness, Letterman has lost his edge that made him so good years ago, and Leno just stopped being funny. His humor has been childish for a very long time. Too bad; they both used to be very funny. Conan is pretty funny, though IMO.
