Thought I'd posting. Because, my friends girl friend was killed. age 17

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Two teenage girls walking along railroad tracks just south of Milwaukee were struck and killed by an Amtrak train Saturday, authorities said. The two were hit as the train passed over a highway shortly after 11 a.m., Wilson said. He said authorities were still trying to determine why the girls were on the tracks and whether they would have been able to get out of the way.

I had a several friends die getting hit by trains back when I was in HS, trains move pretty fast & are amazingly quiet too, so its easy to have one sneak up on you unless your walking facing the direction they travel ... it is a real shame anytime a 17 year old dies like this regardless.

Yes, A train can be very misleading, an amtrak doubly so as it moves almost twice as fast as a freight train a person may be used to going through town.

Best bet is to stay back. Sadly this was not the case.

I believe the speed limits on most tracks in that area is 63. The do have some faster track but that's in the northeast.
Very sorry for the girls families and friends.
