My parents are after me to study for the SATs but how do I study? I mean I'm good at math but I'm not so great at the verbal section. I took the SAT as a sophmore last year and I got a 1200. I'm willing to bet that I can get at least a 1400 but how the heck do I study for it? Any tips would really be appreciated. :)

BTW I'm taking the SAT on December 2nd.

Try just going to a bookstore and buying a book or CD specifically on taking the SATs. If that is too expensive, you could make some vocabulary flash cards to help with the analogies and whatnot. Good luck!

as far as verbal goes, there are a number of words that show up often on the SAT analogy section. For example, I saw "bombastic" both times I took it, and on most of my practice tests. you can find a list of those, and learn some of the more obscure definitions.

I hear there's a group out there that sells these colored pencils with secret SAT code on them.

What the hell is an SAT?!?

I keep hearing about them, but I've never taken a test such as this.

lol@Doggiedog (I wish)

Stefan: Are you serious? I mean I'm guessing that you arn't from the US or have no want to go to college here but basically its what alot of colleges look at when you apply to their college. Its a Standarized Academic Test, so its the same for everyone that takes it.

Anyway thanks for your help guys I went out and bought a Verbal book that has all the commonly used SAT words but most people don't know them.
