I want to get one of these setups, but don't have any experience with either one...is one better than the other? Or are they about the same, content-wise?

do you like the NFL? sirius has the NFL. and it has all the feeds, so you can get the radio coverage from both sides of the field

I love XM, but I have never used Sirius. I have heard good things about it though. I believe that Sirius has less satellites and more repeaters and XM is the opposite. I am not 100% positive of that though. But either way you go it's gonna be much better than FM radio. Is this for your car?

If you get XM it's 9.99 a month and you can add your sweetheart/friends on your plan for only 6.99 a month. You can also buy XM ready radios, so you won't have the hassle of mounting the receiver in the car.

I'll summarize for you (I just went through the turmoil of this decision):

Satellite radio is simply wonderful, whichever service you choose. You'll be glad you went with it, period. Each service has some factors that can help make the decision easier for you.

- If you like sports, go with Sirius - they have a crapload of sports contracts (NBA, NFL, NHL, etc...).
- Sirius "seems" to be more hits-based in a lot of their stations, while XM has deeper, more obscure cuts. There are exceptions of course. It's not like Sirius doesn't have obscure cuts randomly, and XM plays no hits. It's just a small thing that I've noticed while sampling both of them for a few days.
- Sirius has gathered a small reputation of having repetition issues. Personally I don't understand this. I suppose if you listen to the same channel or two, all day long, you might notice some repeats. But I have a rotation of about 12 channels that I enjoy, and I rarely hear the same songs over and over.

You may have gathered that I went with Sirius. I equally enjoyed both services WAY more than FM, so I had just find something to push more over to one or the other. That factor was sports. I don't listen to sports often, but it's playoff time in a few sports right now, and it's cool to flip over to a game and have the teams, score, time left, etc. show up on my display. XM just has NASCAR, I think. (not sure)

It does - unsure of the discount though. I think that I remember once glancing at $6.95/each after the first.
