How do i find out which skew angle i need? All i got is elevation/azimuth but nowhere it mentions anything about the skew angle. Or should i just leave it at 90?

okay, this has nothing to do with your post- because i dont anything about setting up a satellite.... i'd say its probably in the manual somewhere though- or call the satellite company for help...

anyways, just wanted to coment your sig

<< Nine out of ten men prefer women with big breasts. The tenth man prefers the other nine. >>

lol... thought that was pretty funny.

Here is a link to a Definition(scroll down a bit). Basically if you are aiming one dish at one satellite, you don't have to worry about it. The skew angle is adjusting one dish to receive two satellite feeds without having to move the dish for each satellite.

Ok, and what does the skew have to be set to in order to receive two satellites? I have a Dish 500, so i do have to worry about it :D

I am in Canada, so the standart DishNet software won't give me the correct info. I already found a site that gives me the azimuth/elevation, but not skew.

This is the only other thing I could find. Hopefully it might be able to provide the answer.

Ok..

43.45 N
79.33 W

Alright, so i entered that into the program and got azimuth/elevation/skew:

119 - 230 25 34
110 - 229 31 27

Thanks!!!

BTW, i should point to average right? That'd be 230 28 30 right?

The only thing to do is try the angle, at least it should get you in the neighborhood for tinkering with the dish's position for best picture quality, etc.

d1abolic,
you're having a hell of a time with that dish! My dishnetwork dish gave my father in law a very hard time. Here was two experienced infantrymen arguing over which way was the right azimuth. (I figured it was close to my old DirecTV settings and my father in law was arguing that it was in the opposite direction. We were both wrong.) I went in to work, drew out a compass and we got it "tuned" from there. If I remember correctly, the skew was very important for the dishnetwork dish. I believe that when we adjusted that we got a 90-97% signal.

Ok so did i get this right? If:

Satellite 119 - 230 Azimuth, 25 Elevation, 34 Skew
Satellite 110 - 229 Azimuth, 31 Elevation, 27 Skew

Then i point the Dish 500 to the average of those two birds that it's going to catch? That would be 230 Azimuth, 28 Elevation, 30 Skew, right?
