Cutting to the chase I made an imulse buy and purchased sirius Kenwood reciever the portable one .... with home dock station and car station. cost me 260$ {yes i know i could have got it cheaper}. the reason i chose Sirius has better coverage....plus they offer a Lifetime subscription rate for 399$ .... I wouldnt consider buying it without the lifetime subscription.

Anyways they told me on the phone that If a year from now my reciever breaks my subscription is over the subscription can not be transferred to another reciever.......That pisses me off....because i was an idiot and didnt ask questions before I spent all this Money.....and that rule sounds stupid. so i spend close to 300$ then 400$ and i pray that the reciever never breaks? doesnt this sound crappy? I am gunna call tommorrow and see how much of a extended warranty I can get .....But Circuit City and other places often times will just give ya a new unit when yer stuff breaks.....wich would mean my 400$ are gone.

Ok any ideas?

Yes I know this thread is Lame ..... But maybe 1 person will be able to shed some light for me.
Right now i am considering taking it back and gettin my 300$ back

tivo is the same way. lifetime subscription is only for that specific unit.

it's stupid, but that's what they do

that's why i went with xm 🙂

Sirius just filed a $100 million shelf registration followed by a half billion dollar shelf registration, so they'll have enough cash to go thru the rest of the year, although though it did puch the stock down over 12%

can't kenwood repair the unit? or would they probably send u someone else's refurb instead?

if what ur saying is common practice and their corporate policy, you could file a class action lawsuit for breach of contract (lifetime = lifetime), although the litigation will probably bury them and guarantee they go under by the end of 2004, although they were going to do that anyway, and if the tiny-print contract agreement you signed when paying specifically says if it breaks the lifetime is over, then u'd lose the lawsuit

contact your local media, they will shine light on the situation
