SATAII motherboard connector Cable?

I just picked up a WD 250G SATAII capable hard drive. I will install on an Asrock dual 939 SATA MotherBoard. There is a separate connector for SATAII on this board. My question is are the SATA and SATAII connector cable's interchangeable or is there a different cable to get full functionality of SATAII? Thanks. My PSU is Antec neopower 480. thanks.

You can get cables that claim to be SATA 2 - they have metal spring-clips on them that are supposed to hold them in better if the sockets are also designed for the clips. They may also have better shielding and HF design - SATA 2 signals get into the microwave range. But there's no way I can test for that.

Put a potato in the case, with cheap cables and then with good cables? 😀 If you get dinner in the first test, then you're right.

The metal clips are nice. I don't think you necessarily even need motherboard or drive ports designed for them. The ones I got, the clips go all the way to the bottom of the connector, and so to the bottom of the port on the mainboard, and clips under the edge of it. It wouldn't work if the socket was perfectly flush, but they usually aren't.

Not a huge price difference anyway.

I like a 90 degree angle with the clips on my SATA cables. Makes it easier to install.
