sata2 backwards compatible

alright i ve looked and cant seem to find an answer anywhere. if your mobo only supports sata and you are going to get an sata2 drive, the drive will be backwards compatible right? and yes i am aware that sata2 is not a correct term, but you know what i mean.

Yes, the SATA2 drive should be backwards compatible with the older SATA1 board. You shouldn't have any problems, but I believe some drives have a jumper on them to manually set SATA1 if the MB doesn't automatically detect the proper speed.
