SATA vs SATA II (should I mod my mobo?)

Hey there, just wondering if anyone had any experience with these drives and their performance differences while using them with SATA or SATA II .. I saw a few benchmarks (here) where SATAII's added bandwidth seems to help.

Should I mod my lanparty nf4-d and lose the warranty?

Or will the real world performance changes not be worth it?

Thanks

It's a nice drive - quite, good seek time, and good transfer rates. I bought my T7K250 160gb drives from Newegg for about 85bucks each, I think.

The NCQ is nice, I guess, I have tried it both on and off and it doesn't make much of a difference either way.

Your DFI Lan Party doesn't accept sataII drives?!?!

I bought 2x Hitachi 80GB SATA2 8MB Cache hd's for a customer. I enabled the SATA2 feature(You have to download the utility from their site, they come with SATA2 DISABLED.) I didn't do any testing when it was running at SATA1 speeds. I did do some SATA2 testing with hd tach. They are in a RAID1 array, so it could hinder the performance alittle bit. Sustained Transfers were: just under 50-MBytesPerSec, the Burst speeds was around: 233-MBperSec. So, they do performance quite well. They are using 80GB Platters I believe. The customer should be VERY happy with them. He plays alot of games and it will load them just fine. They are also quiet (to me anyways) with acoustic management DISABLED. You can Enable Acoustic Management and make it EVEN quieter. Anyways, hopefully I answered something you wanted to know. Maybe not :)
