SATA vs EIDE?

Is SATA faster than EIDE enough to see it? Im in the process of building a new system and have heard that installing windows for the first time is a pain because you have to install sata drivers and such, so I was just wondering if its a big difference, the system is gonna be a gaming system..

The biggest advantage of SATA, I would think, is that you can use 10KRPM Western Digital "Raptor" hard drives. Also, many SATA controllers support RAID, which can improve performance in some situations.

At the same speed ratings (in terms of seek time, transfer rate, etc.), and without RAID, there should not be noticeable differences in performance between SATA and IDE.

Matthias99 is right. SATA is theoretically faster at 150mb/s as opposed to 133mb/s for EIDE, but thats too fast for any hard drive to fill up.Another advantage of SATA is that the cables are smaller and go farther.
