SATA to USB cable - will it work for 3.5"?

I have a SATA to USB cable/adapter. It works fine with 2.5" drives, but I'm assuming it won't for 3.5" drives due to higher power requirements.

Will it work?

It's a generic "made in China" cable (model: BET-US02). Ends in 2 USB plugs, with the SATA hookup on the other end.

I'm not really going to do much other than identify which of 2 identical drives are broken, and just zero the working one.

hook it up(the drive) to the power coming from your PSU, of course....turn the pc off before you hook it up. plug in the power from the PSU and then the sata to usb adapter, turn the pc back on. you can wait to plug in the usb side until after the pc is booted, if you like.

Thanks guys, but I really just wanted a quick plug and go type scenario. I don't have the time or even a spare computer right now (that I feel like taking apart on any level, at least) to do anything you guys suggested.

I'm just going to have to store both drives for the time being. The dead drive's visit to the recycling depot will be delayed indefinitely. Come to think of it though, I don't even have a hammer around to smash it beforehand, so even if I ID'd the drive, I'd still have to keep it for now.
