sata to usb cable question

I waiting on the arrival of a WD 750GB sata 3mbps hdd. I want to connect via sata to usb but all the sata 2 usb cables I've seen on newegg all state 1.5Mpbs max transfer speed. is it still compatable (but slower)?

Most drives can sense the interface speed (called autonegotiation) and drop back. If not, most (except Hitachi) have a jumper to lock in the slow speed for interfaces that can't negotiate. So, yes, most SATA 2 drives can be made to work at the old speed.
