I find it hot or miss. I use Bytecc and have 3 of them, only 2 of the 3 works with a 1TB Cucial SSD and the one that doesnt, works fine with traditional HDs.
Thermaltake's BlackX docks have served me quite well. Likewise, the small Startech USB 3.0 dock (not dongle), that was one of the early ones supporting large HDDs.
I got an Orico dock on sale at Newegg awhile back, and it has the classic symptoms of an overheating bridge, being unable to copy more than maybe 3-4GBs at a stretch . I got a non-name 2.5" enclosure, and while it works OK once a drive is set up, the partition table will get FUBARed if edited in the enclosure, whether GPT or MBR.
