Could you recommend me one? I've had one or two with not very good results. Online reviews of the ones out there are rather mixed.

Thanks

I've never really had a problem with them. At my old job, I did a LOT of capturing and pushing images to SSDs using various USB to SATA adapters.

Curious, what kind of problems have you experienced?
What type of drive are you plugging in? (2.5" HDD, SSD, 3.5" HDD, ect)

I find it hot or miss. I use Bytecc and have 3 of them, only 2 of the 3 works with a 1TB Cucial SSD and the one that doesnt, works fine with traditional HDs.

Thermaltake's BlackX docks have served me quite well. Likewise, the small Startech USB 3.0 dock (not dongle), that was one of the early ones supporting large HDDs.

I got an Orico dock on sale at Newegg awhile back, and it has the classic symptoms of an overheating bridge, being unable to copy more than maybe 3-4GBs at a stretch :(. I got a non-name 2.5" enclosure, and while it works OK once a drive is set up, the partition table will get FUBARed if edited in the enclosure, whether GPT or MBR.
