I just received a refurb Dell 531 and would like to install my 8600gts card in it. Problem is, there are no Molex connectors on that PSU and the only connector I have available is a single SATA power connector. I have searched Newegg and Froogle and can not find a single adaptor. The closest thing I found on the Newegg are SATA to Molex and Molex to PCIe.

Well, as AnyMal said, there are "SATA to Molex" and "Molex to PCIe" adapters out there, but no "SATA to PCIe" adapters. The problem with using both adapters at the same time is that you'll get power loss going through so many non-soldered connections. I looked around and haven't been able to find one yet.

The only option at this point in time seems to be to buy both the "SATA to Molex" and "Molex to PCIe" adapters and cut/solder them together to make a single adapter yourself to avoid increasing resistence through the push-together connectors.

If anyone spots a prebuilt one in the wild, please post a link to it in this thread. I'm sure this problem is going to become more and more of an issue as SATA devices gain in popularity and PATA drives disappear.

I agree. The bigger problem will be pulling so much power through a single SATA power connector.
