SATA Slow?

I have a Seagate 80GB 7200rpm drive and it seems to only get around 90mb/s when I bench it with HDtach. My ATA133 Maxtor 60GB gets 120mb/s on the same bench. I can't understand why this happens, since SATA is supposed to be a faster interface. The 80GB drives even have a larger 8mb cache, as opposed the 4mb in my Maxtor. Does anyone have any idea why I might be seeing the speed difference and/or what I might do to correct/improve it?

Thanks!

SATA is not going to be faster than an identical PATA drive. The interface has the potention to be faster but just being SATA doesn't mean it'll be faster. The number of platters, the density, and cache would affect the speed.
