SATA recognition issues

so, i tried to install my raptor. my mobo allows for two IDE drives (1 port), which are my opticals. i have an adapter for my Maxtor IDE (boot drive) which is in SATA port 1. my raptor is in port 2. when the boot screen comes up and my drives are listed, the raptor is recognized. when i load up windows, it's not there under "my computer". i have one virtual drive enable with alcohol. when i go under "device manager" and check on the raptor it says it's working properly. i'm trying to install windows to it so that i can make it my boot drive, selling the maxtor, and putting a 200GB IDE in it's place. any clues on how to get this done? thanks.

Go to Disk Management (right click My Computer and select Manage) and format the Raptor first.

i might need step by step explicit instructions. i'm a real doofus.

Right, lets do this one step at a time.

Boot up your computer, then:

1. Right click the My Computer Icon on the desktop and select 'Manage'. (if there isnt a My Computer Icon, then go to control panel and select Administrative Tools, from where you then select Computer Management)

2. When the Computer Management window pops up, Select Disk Management under 'Storage' in the left Pane

3. Youll probably see your Raptor listed in the Disk Manangement window as an unformatted drive - just right click the drive and choose format from the menu.

4. I recommend you format using NTFS

5. When done, think about reinstalling Windows on that Raptor

EDIT: And yes, if you do plan on reinstalling Windows on that Raptor, disconnect the power to the 200 GB IDE, to ensure that the Raptor gets the C: drive letter.

Looks like airfoil's got you on track Here's a picture if that helps any: link. If my drive were in there, but not partitioned or formatted, I'd right-click on the white bar that represents its capacity.
