My Abit IC7-G mobo has two SATA RAID controllers, one Silicon Image 3114 controller (I think) and one Intel controller built into the ICH5R South Bridge (4 SATA ports, two for each controller).
My question is, if I want to do RAID 0 (yes, I know the risks), can I put the two drives on separate controllers to increase performance?
Or for that matter, since the SI controller supports RAID 1, can one drive be on the Intel controller (which only supports RAID 0), while the other drive doing the actual mirroring (or duplexing, in this case) is on the SI controller?
