SATA RAID Slower than NORMAL mode

Hi.. All
I bought 2 maxtor 160 gb, 8 mb sata hard drive and Sil 3112a (Syba) sata control card. After I got my winxp clean installed and trying to play the movie,,,, problem happen now. Which is sound and picturer skipping. but I connect to regular mode came with mainboard's sata it's work fine. i run HD Tech test, the score is lower than my old ata raid. The score are RAS -14ms ,Max- 65000, Min-29000, Ave-47800

It's took me 2 times to reinstall the winxp to find out problem. I think sil 3112a raid card cause. Do you think so? If yes should i try with highpoint raid card or any other card ? Any suggestion?

My spec. MSI 865pe neo2-ls (built in sata, but not raid)
p4 2.8 gb 800 bus
1 gb ddr

Welcome to the Forums 🙂 Try your SATA RAID card in some of the other PCI slots. Maybe it is having an IRQ-sharing problem in the slot that it is in now. I looked at the owner manual for the board, but they don't show the IRQ-sharing relationships of the PCI slots, so you may need to experiment with them 🙂 Good luck!

I tried all PCI slot still same problem. BTW, I bought 2 pair of raid cards and HDDs. 1 is for my friend and we both having same problem. It's 137 gb or larger issue or something? Is there be possible decent raid card that i got?

Finelly.. I solved my problem with new Highpoint 1520 raid card. This card has faster performance than the one I got form Syba Sil3112a raid card. Its installed WinXP took 25 minutes only and my previous sound and video problems all gone. thanks to HP 1520. I can say that Syba product problem and not Sil3112a chip itself. I believe other company can be made better quality of this kind of raid card.
