I have 2 western digital caviar black 1tb sata3 disk connected on port 1 & 2 of my gigabyte ga-890fxa-ud5 and a RAID 0 setup. I want to install mac os x on another hard disk, and so i need to put that on port 1. So if I change the ports for first 2 drives from 1 & 2 to 3 & 4, will it break the RAID setup? or I will be fine or maybe I will need to create another RAID array with same setup as before to keep my data intact?

Are you booting off the existing array? Does your OS reside on it? If so, I would not chance it as I don't feel it's going to work. You'll have to create a new array based on those disks and I'm thinking it will make it unbootable although it may be possible to repair it.

What I would do is this. I would add a third disk to the mix and using Acronis, image the array. I would then move the disks in question, and if it will boot, you're golden. If not, you can use the image you created to restore from.

I would also back up any data I want saved prior. To me, what's important is to have myself covered to the greatest extent possible. If the array when moved boots, I'm good. If not, I can restore from the image. If that goes South, I can reinstall the OS and I have my data backed up.

I'm not going to research the motherboard, but an important aspect would be to ensure that all four of those ports are on the same controller. If they are paired on two different controllers, it absolutely will not work and you may not even be able to restore from the image.

Hope this helps.
