SATA/RAID controller AFTER Vista is installed? (non-F6)

Alright, I built a system with an Intel DG965WH mobo and a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 SATA and no floppy drive. It had Windows XP MCE 2005. I have since put in a floppy drive and upgraded to Windows Vista Home Premium. When installing XP MCE without a floppy, I had to set the BIOS to run the HDD in IDE mode. Now that I have a floppy and Vista, I want to be able to switch the BIOS to run the HDD in RAID mode. Without having installed the SATA/RAID driver/controller through the F6 method during the OS installation, if the BIOS is set to run the HDD in RAID or AHCI it just reboots over and over.
The Intel support site states "NOTE: If you are using a SATA hard drive, the best choice is to set your BIOS to RAID mode and install the operating system using the F6 installation procedure; RAID mode allows your system to be "RAID Ready" and also enables AHCI. This mode provides the greatest overall flexibility and upgradeability.
WARNING: Switching SATA modes in the BIOS after installing the operating system is not recommended or supported when a SATA drive is the boot drive. Switching modes may cause an immediate blue screen with an 0x0000007b error code, followed by a reboot."

So, I am at a loss. The system is at my Mom's and she has programs, data and user settings for four different users already set up. I don't want to have to re-install Vista!!

Is there any other way?? Can the controller driver be slipped in during a repair install of Vista? Help!
