SATA RAID and Dual CD drives

I'm building a system this weekend, my first with a dual SATA RAID array. I've also got a couple optical drives to add.

Q: Am I better off running the two optical drives on one ATA channel or running each one on its own channel? Is that even possible? My MOBO is an ABIT IS7. HDDs are Seagate 80GB 7200RPM. Optical Drives are NEC8xDVD+-R/RW and Lite-on CDRW.

It is best to put hard drives on seperate channels. Your subject mentions SATA raid, SATA can only go on seperate channels. As for optical drives I leave mine on the same channel as master and slave.
