I was looking through the forum, and I noticed that many people had problems with sata, im not sure about raid, but I'm sure people had problems with that as well. I personally have a SATA RAID 0 setup, and I know it was very frustrating.... The drivers sucked and my computer would constantly crash, for various reasons. Now that I got all the right drivers and stuff now tho, it works perfectly. I was just wondering, how many people are having problems with SATA and RAID?? Maybe manufacturers were to eager to get this new piece of technology out to debug it completely. I also noticed that people with my Mobo, the Gigabyte GA-8KNXP have this problem.... is there a trend here??

Post your comments, also, there is a poll, tell me ur thoughts about SATA..

There is no problem with SATA. And you pointed out your problem yourself, and I suspect many others with problems are in the same boat.
Now that I got all the right drivers and stuff now tho, it works perfectly.
The wrong drivers "and stuff" will make dealing with anything frustrating and cause problems.

I'm with Dan as SATA RAID has as of yet caused me grief. The one time I did it was more on the MoBo BIOS then anything else...but that was to be expected as I had it's 1st Rev and BIOS. Most the problems I've read has been because steps were not followed correctly or in the right order.

yeah, even tho my problems stemmed from my drivers, it took me 4ever to get it up and running properly. I got a gigabyte mobo and the drivers that came with it sucked, I had to go to the manufacturers web sites and download em. Maybe its just gigabyte-they didn't provide that much info on how to install sata raid on my computer.

I've had no problem with SATA RAID and SATA non-RAID controllers from Highpoint, Promise, LSI and Intel. All have been fine.

I have GA 8knxp and it was a bitch to set up initially, mostly due to the immature BIOS, with the past 2 updates, f8, and f9 things are much better. I really never had any problems with SATA on the intel or the sil 3112 raid ports, once i got them setup. I thnk it is worth the extra effort, maybe not the extra price.

I am running my raid off Intel's ICH5R...and I have no problems, and I thought set up was smooth too!
