SATA question

Hey guys,

Thanks to Moonsite for answering some of my questions. I know now that you don't have to have two drives to use the SATA interface. However, one thing i'm still unclear on: is there any advantage to using the SATA version of a particular drive (say a 160GB @ 7200RPM) vs. the IDE version? Thanks for the help.

Not really, just the thinner wire for better airflow. Or if you're out of IDE channels, then going to SATA gives you more ports. There is no real noticeable speed bonus.

Well, i kinda had the same question about a year ago.

I think the general consensus would be that in terms of real world performance, there is really no difference.

The SATA drives do have nice small cables & connectors...but yeah, i sure have never seen any difference.
