SATA Problems on NF-7 S v2

i just recently aquired a 74 gig raptor from this forumn and i have never previously had experience with setting up SATA at all. when i go to install windows on the drive i hit f6 to install scsi raid driver with my floppy disk in the drive and it never prompts me to install from my disk or anything. it just keeps going and at the end it tells me that there is an unknown controller and gives me a list to install from which actually has the sis controller listed for the nf7-s, but when installing manually like from that the computer finishes copying the setup files and when the next prompt screen to begin setup with windows the computer simply shuts down.

please help!!! i got this amazing drive and cannot even use it. anybody with an nf7 would greatly help me, since i know many on this board have the nf7 im hoping someone can help me.

those are my specs filled in. note that if i use an IDE hard drive and format and install windows computer doesn't shut off at all. it goes through normally, but i want windows on this drive for speed! please help as im almost ready to just go out and buy a new mobo cpu

I wonder if the Turbolink is running out of 12V amperage on you. They're not very strong on 12-volt, as I recall.

Try this as a fact-finding step: put in an older GeForce or Radeon video card that doesn't draw enough power to need a booster cable off the PSU, and use only the Raptor in the system during Setup (you want that anyway). If it does not kick out when the power consumption of the system is lower, then you know that you need a better power supply. Also clock the CPU at stock speed, if that 2.2GHz is an OC'ed value.

On the Raptor, which power plug are you using, an SATA one or a standard 4-pin power plug? I'd use 4-pin if I were you, they have a nice firm fit.

edit: if you determine it's a power-supply issue, here's one I'd consider for myself: 460W Enermax Lots of 12-volt amperage for today's needs, lots of reserve power for future craziness 😀 and good quality.

i'll give that a shot, but i never had problems when using 2 IDE drives and also the x800. i'll report back sometime tonight.
