Hey guys, I'm having some problems with my A8N-SLI Premium. I have 4 SATA hdd's that are in my system. The bios doesnt see any of the 4 hdd's. I tried all 4 in a different system, and they are seen. The hard drives are working, it's something with the motherboard. I was at a friends house, and it was working fine, then i brought pc home, and it doesn't work any more. I'd like to get this thing fixed ASAP so i can start doing things again. I'm using the NF4 SATA, not the Silicon. The hdd's are seen in Silicon slots , but i don't have a floppy that works that i can use in windows installation for the sata driver. I'd appreciate any help, and i hope i can get this fixed within the next day or 2. Thanks!

System Specs:

AMD Opteron 146
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
eVGA 7800GTX
1gb PC4000 Geil Ultra Platinum
500w X-Connect PSU
2x 36gb Raptors
2x 250gb WD2500's
Koolance Water Cooled Case

Have you tried only putting one hard drive in the NF4 SATA and installing windows? (put it on port #3 I think)

I don't know what you mean here. Do you mean you took the entire pc to a friend's house, with the drives in it, and it worked fine? Or did you take the drives to a friend's house and they worked fine in their system?

Also just to check... you only have one power wire plugged in to the drives right?

My whole system worked fine when i was at my friends house. I then packed up to go home, and when i got here, and powered it on, none of my hard drives were detected. I now am running on the Silicon RAID slots, but my 250's arent seen because the silicon slots are RAID only. None of my drives work in NF4 slots. I have tried every slot, and every hard drive. The power cables are still in, and the sata cables are still in. They are detected fine in silicon slots, just not NF4 slots. Thanks

Did you try a different PSU? What are the readings of 12V, 5V, 3.3V rails in ASUS Probe? How much fluctuation are you getting? Are you using the EZ-Plug?
I had a similar (same?) problem which was fixed by a quality PSU. My board sometimes saw HDDs, sometimes didn't. With the new PSU, the symptom is gone. Before you go out and buy a new PSU, if you're not using EZ-Plug currently, try that first.

I am using ez plug, and i tried without using it. I was planning on buying a new PSU anyways, because this one is modular, and doesnt fit correctly in my case. I had to take out the second hard drive bay to fit it in. I'm looking into an aspire 680w psu. It has good reviews, and the price is right, so i think i'll grab one. Also, i was planning on getting a DFI Lanparty SLI-DR anyways. I would still like to get this problem resolved so i can sell / trade the motherboard off with no problems. I might just have to end up RMA'ing it :(
