SATA problem

Help. I am trying to install a Seagate 200GB Serial ATA Drive. The problem is that the XP Pro gets past the install SCSI raid driver for the Asus A7V600 MB, then it gets to the window where you would choose Windows recovery or install windows where it freezes.

Helpful info: Have tried with and without drivers and without the serial ATA Drive, and it still freezes. Have tried removing and disabling the parallel ATA drives. Have tried the latest available bios. Are there any other settings on the motherboard or in the bios to install the serial ATA drive?

System Specs:
Asus A7V600 MB
AMD 2600+
512 Memory
450 Watt PS
Seagate 200 G.B. Serial ATA HD
WD 120 G.B. Parallel
Connor 2 G.B.
Radeon 9600
Pioneer DVDRW
Liteon CD-rom

These are the drivers I was using. Are there any other drivers available? VIA VT6420 (VT8237) SATA RAID Driver Package Version 2.20D WHQL.VIA VT6420 (VT8237) SATA RAID Driver Package Version 2.20D WHQL.

Is there a non-raid version?

Did your new SATA drive come with an install disk? I remember when I installed mine that I just put the CD in and it was a boot disk. It did the initial preparation for me and then I had to reboot and put in the Windows install disk. Hope this helps.

Disable RAID in the BIOS, disconnect the IDE HD's. With Seagate, I always format the SATA drive using the Seagate utility. You do have to install the VIA drivers at F6 right at the beginning of the XP installation. You have put the drivers on a floppy if the MOBO only came with CD, haven't you?
