SATA Problem

My asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard won't detect the hard drives on the SATA ports anymore. My computer crashed and I had to do a hard reboot, when it finished rebooting the 2 hard drives on the SATA ports were not detected any more. Windows detected a new piece of hardware "Raid Controller" I popped in the Asus CD that came with the motherboard that has the drivers but when I went to search the CD it did not find anything. I specified the folder where to find the drivers but it didn't find it. I downloaded the drivers off the website and those did not work either. I powered down the PC and reset the CMOS for a day, then attempted the setup again this time it found the drivers off the CD but as soon as it finished loading up the drivers it crashed again. So I had to reboot again and this time it did the same thing by not installing the drivers off the cd.

The PC boots up off the 80gb hdd on the IDE Port but it won't detect my 2 SATA storage hard drives on my SATA Ports. I have a western digital JB 120gb drive with a rocket head sata adapter and a seagate 7200.7 120gb hard drive also using a rocket head sata adapter. I've tried putting the 2 hard drives in another PC and they both detect fine in another computer.

I've tried contacting Asus' tech support but they keep telling me to check my ram, video card, cpu temps, etc... This PC worked fine with the current setup I have now for almost a year now, I don't know what caused it to crash.

Current Setup
(Barton 2500+) (stock speeds)
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
1024 Crucial PC2700 (2x512)
Sapphire Radeon 9700np (stock speeds)
80gb Seagate barracuda IV (primary hdd)
120gb Western Digital JB (secondary, storage hdd)
120gb Seagate 7200.7 (secondary, storage hdd)
Antec True 550w Power Supply
Pioneer 106s DVD-ROM
Yamaha CRW-F1 CD-RW Drive
Alpha PAL8045 Heatsink

I have had almost exactly the same problem you had as well.

I booted up one day and it did not find the HDD drive (single Maxtor 120Gb SATA Drive) and I thought the HDD was screwed. I noticed that as the PC POST'ed the SATA controller would pop up a message saying that it was finding the HDD but that does not come up any more!

I was annoyed and have since RMA's the motherboard to the supplier(less than 6 months old) and hopefully they can sort it out. This was only done a few days ago so I will let you know what happens. Remember that ASUS Mobo's have a 3 year warranty so they HAVE to sort it out if you send it to them.

I'm trying to troubleshoot this problem using Asus' help desk thingy but they keep telling me the same old stuff. How did you convince them that your mobo needed to be RMAed? Did you call the tech support line or just stick with help desk? I have no problem sending in the motherboard, I haven't been using my desktop anyways since the HDDs disappeared.
