SATA Power Connector

They are used to power a sata hard drive kind of like the 4 pin molex you use to hook up a cd-rom or pata hard drive.
 
Not all drives have both. That is a very expensive drive, so it has this useful feature. Not all drives are like that.
 
On some SATA drives you have the option of either using the SATA Power conector or a legacy molex connector. I use the molex on my two WD drives since I'm using the secureconnect cable that doesn't allow you to use SATA power.
