SATA Power Cable/Serial Cable

PATA drives have 2 cables, data (ribbon) and power.

For SATA there are new plug designs for both power and data, but the Raptor does include the standard PATA power connector as well as the new SATA one (don't connect both!). You need a SATA data cable though.

I'm getting a Raptor hard drive thats OEM. Will it take the standard IDE power cable or do I need a special cable?

you can do either. BUT DONT DO BOTH.

The raptor has two connections for power, one SATA-type and one PATA-type. You can use either, but not both. FYI, data and power cables are still separate for SATA.
