I'm looking at buying this computer. They offer it with different disk drive options. According to the item's description SATA maxes out at 550 MB/s while the NVMe maxes out at 3,200 MB/s. So is it worth the extra money? I plan on replacing the HDD with an SSD eventually. Does that matter?

Without knowing what you do on your PC, it's hard to say if you will notice a difference or not.

If you're an average user or gamer, the answer is you will really not notice any difference. Another thing to consider is a NVMe drive will likely run very warm in a laptop, so I'd personally use a SATA SSD instead.

Imo it's not worth the price premium going nvme. You probably won't notice much if any difference
