Just getting my new machine set up.
I read the posts about copying the sata driver from the motherboard setup disc. I couldn't find any!! So I skipped thru the request for Scsi or Raid drivers.
The machine posted fine, installed XP to the harddisc (Seagate Sata 80gb), which is plugged into the Sata port.
The post screen says I have my Asus DVD drive on ide 1 reporting at ultra dma-4
my cd burner is on ide 2 reporting dma 2
the hard drive is the third device at ultra dma 5.

The device manager lists the drive by its part number under the hard disc catagory.

Is this right?

Yes, that is right. the only time you need to hit the F6 is for if you had an pci based sata controller or raid controller.
