i've searched beyond belief and found nothing that i can use to fix the problem.
i have a 80g western digital sata hd, which shows up as being on ide channel 2. i have an optical drive on ide1, and ide0 is disabled. is this the correct designation for the hd for this motherboard? i try to install xp but the optical and the hd aren't working well together....it won't boot off the xp cd. is something in the bios not correct?
i realize my question was very unclear..but i really don't know how else to tell it. if anyone could provide ANY info on how you got your sata drive working on this mb, that would be greatly appreciated.

You need to tell it to boot off the CD in the BIOS before it trys to boot from Hard disks.

you also need SATA drivers on a floppy disc and push f6 when it asks to load extra drivers during the beggining of the OS install.

But yes that sounds right for the IDE channels. Though I'm not sure why your CD rom isn't on IDE 0 instad of 1. I guess that probly doesn't matter though.

ok, a different issue maybe someone could help me with. it seems that the "integrated peripherals" should look like it does in the picture. however, with my 8kda3j mb, i only have 4 options, the first one taking me to the screen that most closely resembles that. however i do not get all the options listed there. does anyone know how to make all those options show up? i've tried control+f1 to see if it'd do anything, and got nothing.

My BIOS is like yours. It has 4 options that basically seperate the options that are on the screen.

How do you know that is a 8KDA3J BIOS since you and I both have those board and look nothing like that screen shot? Where did you get that picture from?
