I'm working on a machine with an Abit IC7 motherboard, 256MBx2 TwinMOS PC3200 RAM, Intel P4 2.4C, one WD Raptor 36.6GB SATA HD, and one Seagate Barracuda 120GB SATA HD. I very simply am I trying to figure out whether or not the two hard-drives are actually working in SATA mode. Both drives are connected to the proper SATA plugins on the motherboard. I don't have any HDs connected via IDE, so I don't know how they could operating in other way but SATA. I installed the latest Intel chipset drivers that Abit has on their website but during my last Windows XP install I didn't install any special SCSI drivers from the floppy that came with the motherboard. When I check my Device Manager, both HDs are list under "Disk drives" but there isn't SATA listed anywhere. "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" is listed in the Device Manager as well with "Intel(R) 82801EB Ultra ATA Storage Controllers" under it along with both (Primary/Secondary) IDE channels. Are those just listed for my two CD drives? Shouldn't there be some kind of SCSI driver listed in my Device Manager if the drives are operating in SATA mode? Should I do a clean install and make sure I put the Abit floppy in when it asks for third party drivers this time? Thank you!
