SATA + new Reformat question

Hello all,

I'm about due for a reformat and I cannot remember when i re-installed on my Raptor whether I needed SATA DRIVERS or not..I do not believe i needed any...

I just went to WD's website and the 2 drivers they have are for add-in cards.

My IC7-max3 comes with 2 sata controllers on-board (if that helps any)

Also I have another 200GB wd Caviar drive for storage purposes.

Basically I was wondering if i needed drivers during my reformat and if yes where they are to be found.

Thanks!

Reformat within windows or reformat during OS installation? You'll need the driver for the latter.

If you do a reformat and install of Windows, you will likely need the SATA drivers. They should come from your mobo web site, or off the CD that came with your mobo. Just be sure to make the floppy disk(s) with the drivers before you start the process.

This is a full /format c:/

Then install.

The abit site appears to be down at the moment but I do not remember having to install drivers last time because I dont have a floppy drive 😀
