SATA issue with the Gigabyte DS3

I have a DS3 mobo with E6600 and 3 SATA HDs (all on the Intel controller ports). Because the third one is a new one, I was moving a lot of files around to organize my storage. When I move a lot of data from drive to drive, I notice my mouse will stop for a second or two. Also, if I am playing any avi or mpeg file at the same time as the files are moved, the picture and sounds will slow as well. Is this typical or is there any special driver I need to install?
TIA.

This doesn't sound like SATA driver issue... You can try moving couple of them to the Gigabyte SATA ports... (be sure to get and install the latest Jmicron drivers 1.17 something)
Also RAID works great on Gigabyte ports so you might try that to increase disk performance...
