Just looking through ght e Anandtehc report of Computex, and notice
This motherboard
It still has a floppy connector, and it's special because it has PCI-Express, but it also only has 1 PATA connector, which would obviously be for CD drives mainly.
And it has 6 SATA ports from the looks of it (those little red things?)

Pretty good that the tech is becoming more prolific even now.

Smaller cables, better airflow.
Soon to be daisy chaining (next version IIRC)
Hot swappability (possibly next version too).

If we don't start, we're not going to get there.

They are already hot swappable...
I have done it many times already

SATA is here to stay
There was never any doubt in my mind. Or the industries for that matter. SATA is being marketted as one of the next "big things". Too bad it is being marketted to ignorant people that don't realize the promise of 150MB/s (or 300 MB/s) sppeds is a misleading one. At any rate, SATA is here to stay, it's a good thing and worth it, though mostly for features other than touted speeds..

This alone is worth everything IMO.

This just makes things better.

SATA is currently hot-swappable. The real issue is finding a true SATA drive and PSU that has properly configured power connectors. This isn't too dificult, but its the only issue right now preventing widespread hot-swapping.

now if they could just make the 'standoffs' or whatever they're called on the mobo more sturdy, i would be happy.
im worried to death im gonna accidentally snap one of those things.
thats why if i have to mess with anything in my case i take out the SATA cable first thing.
