SATA install help

i'm building a new PC, using onboard SATA support, and the included cable(s)... the drive comes with the option of using a Molex or a SATA power connector, im using the molex. it powers up (i can feel the vibrations and hear it spinning) but it's not in the BIOS anywhere, and when i try to install XP, Setup tells me it is unable to locate a hard drive. anybody experienced this, and/or know how to fix it?

edit: its a maxtor 80gb diamondmax plus 9

When XP inquires for a 3rd party driver, F6 and then put in a floppy with the SATA drivers

well apparently i didnt need the disk in. it seems i posted too soon: eventually, it stopped and asked me for a disk. should work now, thanks.
